there really is something to a domino effect

When I became interested in health and wellbeing seven years ago, I had little idea that it would be a prime mover in my life. I basically went along with a plan to help my spouse prep for heart surgery he needed to repair a congenital defect, and in the process became interested in building myself to better health.

The program we adopted revolved around the habits of health, which of course is much more than what we eat and how we move. It is little wonder that the “diet industry” generates billions of dollars each year.

I think it is fascinating that there are thousands of programs, products, theories, and the like out there in the great unknown, just waiting for some (possibly desperate) soul to embrace it. It is more than fascinating, actually, it is mind-numbing.

Routine #1

Beginning with the Habits of Health, I became aware of the connection between the mind and body in overall health, healthy living, and wellbeing. I was able to shed about 35 pounds in four months and it felt great.

I held on to that routine for about a year. Awake each morning and immediately suck down at least 16 ounces of water. Break my fast within 30 minutes of rising and eat/snack/fuel every three hours, so that by the close of the day I had eaten…
