It has become annoying to hear the pundits and political elites claim that "we need to do all we can to save our democracy".

The United States never was and is still not a "democracy".

The United States is a Constitutional Republic with a "representative form of government".

Remember back in the day when all children took "civics" classes? The biggest purpose for public education is to create good citizens. You know, citizens who know and understand that government exists to serve communities (the public good) and to instill love and faith in the country.

Yes, Mr. Biden is out and as you say he leaves many questions unanswered and opens up all sorts of speculation. Not sure that this is exactly uniting the country in the most important ways, but at least the majority are united in trying to figure it all out.
