Well, ok, but please read my response again. God shows mercy and justice. In His mercy, He gives us many opportunities to turn back to Him. He waits until iniquity hits its "full measure" before He exacts His justice.

The Old Testament is filled with this back and forth between God and man. The full measure of iniquity hit at the time of the Flood. It filled again with Sodom and Gomorrah. Centuries later, Pharaoh's heart hardened. Did you know that some 600,000 Israelites and Egyptians were freed as a result of the Passover?

Yes, it took an extreme event to procure this freedom, but as they say, "God's ways are not our ways", and with our finite minds and tendencies toward "the world, the flesh, and the devil" we likely will never understand the good that came out of such justice until the end of time.

But if you want to talk about meaningless, how just is it that, in the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, "a child must to die so that you can live as you choose"? Isn't that the hallmark of our "anything goes" world today?
