You forget that God creates these souls for a purpose. We don't know what that purpose is to be, and we may never know. God knows, though.
I read an account of St. Padre Pio, who spent hours on end hearing confessions. A woman came to his confessional, related her sins and waited. St. Pio asked if she had anything else.
She made no reply, so he filled the silence. He told her that she had had an abortion some 40 years ago. She agreed. "Do you want to know about this child who was not given a chance to live?" he asked.
Without waiting for an answer, St. Pio told her that the child she aborted was a boy. The boy was to have grown up to be a priest, a bishop, a cardinal, and finally a pope. A strong pope who would lead His Church through some turbulent and rocky times.
The result being that millions and millions of souls have perhaps been lost for eternity because of a single decision made by a woman who thought she knew better than God what was best.
As Sr. Teresa of Calcutta has been attributed as saying, "It is a poverty that a child has to lose his life so that a woman can live as she chooses".
A poverty indeed...and the world is suffering for it.
